FAVOURITE TUNE OF ALL TIME, AND WHY: Paul Simon – “Call me Al” – because it’s just a great feel good tune
FAVOURITE GIG OF ALL TIME & WHY: I recently did a Corporate celebration at Glasgow Science Centre for 400 guests, this was one the largest audiences I had played to and I shared the bill with a very talented tribute band who are now in a West End Musical! The party was in a huge marquee and went down a storm, it was a great atmosphere and I filled in whilst the band did their costume changes. There was also a free bar and free food, need I say more!!!
FAVOURITE VENUE & WHY: My favourite venue has got to be Hamilton Park Racecourse – It has a little booth for me to play from and is an intimate venue with spectacular views over the racecourse.
MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT: There has been many in my time as a DJ from, accidentally kicking my amplifier off, to getting my words mixed up on the mic or even introducing a record then playing something totally different but the most embarrassing has got to be when I was doing a surprise party for a guy and when he walked in I started my string of one liners and was surprised when he didn’t react, but this made me more determined, so I continued for about 30 seconds until a guy at the table next to me told me that the Birthday Boy was in fact deaf, so I calmly switched off the mic and sat down out of view until my face had stopped glowing.
The moral of this story- you can never give a DJ too much information!!!!!!
FAVOURITE STYLES & BANDS/ARTISTS: I love all types of music from Queen, Scissor Sisters, Natasha Beddingfield and Robbie but my favourite at the moment is Jack Johnson, his new album is fantastic and well recommended for chilling out to.
WHAT YOU LIKE / DISLIKE ABOUT DJ ING: I love being able to fill a floor and be the difference to a great party and a dull party, I love playing requests, after all that is why I’m there. As far as dislikes go, I hate being asked for “Good” or “Decent” music – if you want something played – just ask – but my idea of good or decent may be different from yours. I also hate venues with lots of stairs and doors to get to the function room as it makes life a little difficult sometimes but that’s about it – anything else goes!!!!
